Our Most Popular Class on Camera Basics..............

How to use your camera! Making better photographs comes from both a creative idea and the ability to use the controls on your camera to make them happen! We cover all of the functions of the camera in detail from the basics to give each class participant a better understanding of how photography in general, and their camera specifically, works. We will discuss creative composition and the visual dynamics of good photography. Bring your camera and questions!

Bill Gillespie has been running the Photography Center of Atlanta for ten years and teaching for twenty-five. Previously he has taught in Atlanta at Spruill Arts Center, and was a full time Instructor of Photography at Cleveland State Community College in Tennessee.

Introduction, Meets once a week in the evening for 4 weeks;

Develop & Print in the Darkroom..............



Covering the Basics, this class is a great introduction to Black and White Printing and Developing and also is a great Refresher Course for those wanting to get back into the darkroom!

This class will discuss the differences in approach and aesthetics in making black and white photographs compared to color. We will explore the creative and practical "how-to" aspects of the process. Learn the methods of black and white processing and printing. Film developing, printing, and enlarging your own negatives give you a new level of control over your photographs. Students will provide film and paper, we provide chemistry and darkroom equipment. Learn step by step hands-on with all of the assistance that you need from the instructor. Limited enrollment means that there is dedicated equipment for each student. Our class takes place in the darkroom. Prerequisite; Introduction to Photography or good basic camera experience.

Black and White Darkroom and Printing, we will meet on Saturday July 26th and Sunday, July 27th, for an overview of Black and White film developing and printing. Starting at 10am on July 26th. In the morning we will have q&a on black and white shooting, darkroom setup, film loading, and before lunch develop 1 or 2 rolls of conventional black and white film. After lunch we will come back together and make contact sheets and overview the basics of printing. We will meet the second day, Sunday, July 27th from Noon to 4 and will have a printing session. Each student will also receive an additional 4 hour credit to come in and use the rental darkroom on their own time schedule to continue printing. Tuition includes necessary equipment and chemistry, students are responsible for film and paper.

For travelers on I-75 or I-85 Northbound, Exit on Buford Highway/Monroe/Piedmont on I-85 North (just after the split of I-75 & I-85), go down the ramp and immediately take next exit at Monroe Drive, turn left at the light, go one block to light where you will go straight (over Piedmont), the road you are on after crossing Piedmont is Cheshire Bridge Rd, and we are the third building on the right. From I-85 South bound, exit at Lenox Rd / Cheshire Bridge Rd and turn left onto Cheshire Bridge, travel 1 1/2 miles and we are on the left. From I-75 traveling south, just after the Howell Mill / Northside Drive Exit there will be a left lane exit to I-85 North, take that exit and follow the instructions for I-85 Northbound. Convenient Parking!
